A non-fragrant type of sandalwood known as Red Sanders, or Pterocarpus santalinus, is most commonly found in mountainous, rocky areas with red soil. In terms of medicine and biology, these trees have a wide range of applications. In 3–4 years, they grow to a height of 8–10 metres. The trees' slender trunks grow thicker over the course of at least 10 to 15 years before they begin to bear fruit.
